This tiled pattern of mirrored Art Nouveau flowers was hand-drawn in the Liberty studio and guided by the philosophy of prolific designer and theorist Christopher Dresser. Rooted in Dresser’s influential 1862 book ‘The Art of Decorative Design’, Macsen is an elegant embrace of nature’s fundamental principles- symmetry, order, growth, repetition, and alteration. This print is part of the second chapter of this collection, Collaboration, which reflects the current design team’s celebration of the techniques and styles of their predecessors - bridging the gap between past and present.
