Skill Level Suggestion: Confident Beginner - You’re familiar with threading a machine or doing simple hand stitching. You can follow basic instructions and want to build on what you know

Description

Whether your applique calls for delicate stems or a bold border treatment, knowing the right technique can being your work to life. In this hands-on workshop, we will explore a variety of methods to create beautiful dimensional stems. You will learn how to create stems using fabric, ribbons, ric rac, and embroidery stitches. Throughout this class, you will create your own stitched samples using different techniques. These samples will serve as a helpful resource for future projects. 

So, if you're looking to refine your skills and want to elevate your work, this class offers practical methods and tips to do just that. 

If you have a project in mind, please bring that with you to class. Please note that some pre-class preparation will be required - details will be sent to you prior to the session.


Supply List

  • Basic sewing kit including small sharp scissors, pins, thimble (if you use one)

  • Fabric scissors

  • Cotton fabric scraps in various colours and patterns

  • 1 x 10"x12" piece of white fabric to see your samples on

  • Small cutting mat, rotary cutter, and ruler

  • Fabric marking tool - chalk pencil or frixon pen

  • Small iron and pressing mat

  • Chenille needle

  • A variety of embellishment threads including perle cotton

  • Milliner needle - or your needle of preference for applique

  • 60 weight or 80 weight thread for applique

  • Best Press or Flatter along with small brush to apply or fabric folding pen
