Description

Foundation paper piecing (FPP) is a great way to achieve consistent seams with odd angles, tiny pieces or complex seams.  In this hands-on workshop, we will try both traditional and paperless FPP - a new take on the traditional technique while ensuring the same results. This class will cover the basics of both methods and some tips and tricks to ensure your success. 

You will be supplied with a simple shape to practice your skills.

Should you prefer to do your own design, feel free to bring the pattern printed on foundation paper and freezer paper.

Supply list

• Sewing Machine: Set up with a new needle (size 80/12 or 90/14), full bobbin, a basic straight stitch foot without a fabric guide.  Please set stitch length to a shorter length; about 1.5"-1.8"
  
  
• Add a quarter ruler (6" or 12"). If this is a new purchase for you, we recommended purchasing an Add-a-Quarter plus ruler as one side is bevelled
  
  
• Small cutting mat, rotary cutter
  
  
• Basic Sewing Supplies: incl. seam ripper, a square ruler (any size between 6.5 – 12.5 inches) a few flower head pins, Scotch brand Magic tape
  
  
• Hera marker or stiletto
  
  
• Fabric glue stick (ie. Sewline, Odif 505)
  
  
• Recommended by not necessary – brayer roller (ie: Clover Roll & Press, Violet Craft Seam Roller)
  
  
• Fabric Scraps:  pieces in various colours and sizes. Small and large scrap pieces or a few fat eights or fat quarters
  
  
• Note: Directional fabrics are not recommended for this project
  
  
• If using your own design: Foundation Paper and freezer paper with your design printed/drawn on your papers ready for sewing. Use paper that can be easily torn away

CLASS POLICY

Thank you for choosing Out of Hand Quilting & Fabrics for your creative endeavours! We're excited to have you join our classes and learn new skills. To ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for everyone, we have established the following store policy regarding class enrollment:

1. Registration: By registering for a class, either online or in-store, you are entering into a contract for participation in that class. We kindly ask that you carefully consider your schedule and availability before enrolling.

2. Class Cancellations + Shop Credit: Class registrations are non-refundable. If you are unable to attend, please let us know as soon as possible. If we are able to fill your spot from the waitlist, you will receive a shop credit for the value of the class. If we are unable to fill your spot, no refund or shop credit will be issued.

3. Transferability: Class registrations are non-transferable. If you are unable to attend, you cannot transfer your enrollment to another person. 

4. Minimum Class Requirements: Please note that classes have a minimum requirement of participants to cover instructor and staff costs and ensure an enriching learning environment. We will make every effort to meet these requirements and run the class as scheduled. In the event that the minimum class requirement is not met, participants will be notified 1-2 weeks in advance. Only in this instance, a full refund will be issued to those who have already enrolled. We understand that this may be disappointing, but it is necessary to maintain the quality and viability of our classes.

We understand that life can be unpredictable, and we genuinely want to support your passion for creative exploration. We encourage you to reach out to us as soon as possible if you find yourself unable to attend a class you have registered for. This will allow us to explore the possibility of filling your spot from the waitlist and providing you with an in-store credit.
