All Things Hand Stitching with Jen Kingwell - Final Balance

We are thrilled to have Jen in the studio for three days of stitching! In this class Jen will teach you all her techniques for hand piecing, hand applique and hand quilting. She will also touch on fabric selection, template use, EPP, fussy cutting and more!
Required Supplies:
- Jen Kingwell template set of your choice - PLEASE NOTE: THIS MUST BE PURCHASED BEFORE CLASS
- A variety of small cut fabrics. Remember to include some florals, geometrics, spots, stripes etc. scraps,fat sixteenths and eighths work well (and remember more is always better).
- Thick template plastic - a thicker one works best (or specific acrylic template set)
- Ultra fine permanent marker
- Scissors for cutting plastic
- Fabric scissors
- Straw or milliners needles size 11
- 50wt cotton thread to blend with fabrics for piecing in neutral colour eg. Grey
- 50wt or 80wt thread for applique in a variety of colours
- General sewing requirements eg. Pins, scissors etc.
- 0.7mm mechanical pencil (propelling pencil) with 2b or 2 lead (usa)
- 1/4" simple seam wheel
- Sandpaper board
- 1 fat quarter for applique background
Hand Quilting Supplies:
- 18” (approx.) quilt sandwich ie. 2 fat quarters & a piece of batting cut to size. Solid fabrics work well to easilyvisualise stitches. Please ensure the batting is recommended for hand quilting (Eg. quilters dream cotton request).
- Chenille needles size 24 or 26
- 12wt aurifil thread in colour to contrast with fabric
- Hoop optional (Jen does not use one)
