Tip Tuesday: Removing Stick & Stitch
We’re showing you how to remove the Stick & Stitch stabilizer from the Vintage Moth kit by Bird’s Nest Embroidery. Their kits are full of great tips, and this last step is easier than you think!
-
Check your work first – make sure you haven’t missed any stitches, and trim any loose threads.
-
Rinse with warm water – hold your hoop under warm running water to dissolve the stabilizer.
-
Gentle massage is key – use your fingers to softly massage the fabric, loosening any stabilizer caught under stitches.
-
Roll, don’t wring – after rinsing, roll your piece gently in a clean towel to remove excess water. Avoid wringing, which can distort stitches.
-
Dry in the hoop – keep your fabric in the hoop while drying to prevent puckering or shrinkage.
The result? A clean, crisp finish where your stitches shine!

Maker Spotlight

Today, we’re shining the spotlight on Val’s incredible Alice’s Wonderland Block of the Month Quilt.
This BOM recently wrapped up, and it’s a beauty! Each block is stitched from a kaleidoscope of over 100 different Liberty prints—a true garden of colour and pattern that makes every square feel like its own little storybook.
While the program is finished, now is the perfect time to:
-
Pull out your blocks and bring them together into something magical.
-
Dive into your Liberty stash and let those treasured bits and pieces find their forever home.
-
Add your own spin—mix in applique, embroidery, or borders to make it uniquely yours.
If you joined in, we’d love to see your progress—whether you’re still stitching blocks, laying them out, or have a finished top ready for quilting. Share with us and let’s keep the Wonderland inspiration flowing!
