Sanjou Ciseaux Facon Nacre

$130.00
By Sajou

This pair of embroidery scissors represents the "S" of Sajou. Also note the pretty scallop pattern around the rings. Its branches imitate mother-of-pearl, a material that was used a lot in the past to make delicate sewing objects.
Size: 11.8 cm . Presented in a Sajou box. Inside the lid, a label explains the manufacturing process. These scissors, trimmings pompom included, are entirely MADE IN FRANCE . Know that their production required the intervention of a dozen qualified people.

A very important detail allows you to judge the quality of a pair of embroidery scissors, these are the pairing marks: this number that can be seen inside each of the branches. In the photos shown here, it is a "7". This figure varies according to the pair of scissors, it indicates that the two branches have, from the first assembly operation, been adjusted to go together, in other words adjusted to "make the pair". This first adjustment carried out, the scissors are dismantled so that the branches undergo the various necessary treatments. They are then reassembled and finished. In the 19th century, such pairs of embroidery scissors required the know-how of a cutler for the steel blades and that of a table-maker for working the mother-of-pearl. Nowadays, the distribution of work is a bit similar: the steel blades are made by a scissor, while the branches are made in our own workshops. Unlike older models, this one is very light, so very pleasant to use.
