This pair of golden embroidery scissors in the shape of the Eiffel Tower is a reissue of a model dating from the end of the 19th century. Indeed, the Eiffel Tower was erected on the occasion of the Universal Exhibition of 1889. It was during the latter that Jacques-Simon Sajou obtained a silver medal. Note the fineness of the grids simulating the metal beams of the Tower…, as well as the quality of the screw. The blades, too, which are extremely sharp.
Size: 10cm.
This pair of scissors is covered with a sky blue Eiffel Tower charm, specially made to go with it. The orange and blue pompom, the favorite colors of the Sajou house, was made in a trimmings workshop in the Saint-Etienne region.
The manufacture of such a pair of scissors requires no less than fifteen operations which, for the most part, are manual. The aurification requires that a varnish be applied to all the parts which should not be gilded. This explains the price difference between the chrome Eiffel Tower scissors and these. A very important detail allows you to judge the quality of a pair of embroidery scissors: the pairing marks. It is this number that can be seen inside each of the branches (a "112" in the photos presented here). It indicates that the two branches making up these scissors have, from the first assembly operation, been adjusted and set to go together, in other words to "make the pair".
Our scissors are presented in a Sajou box. Inside the lid, a label explains the manufacturing process. Tassel colours and markings may vary
