Bev’s Staff Pick

Staff Pick - September 12, 2023 - Bev's Big Stitching Binding

*Meet the Team Edition - Bev*

Bev is sharing one of her favourite techniques for achieving that rustic, handcrafted finish on her quilt bindings.

Bev's secret? Long stitching her binding! She loves the visible stitch it creates on the backside of her quilts. Not only is it a quicker alternative to the invisible stitch, but it also adds a delightful handmade charm to her creations.

To get the perfect look, Bev reaches for a Chenille needle in size #25 and opts for a thicker appliqué thread, like a #5 Perle Cotton, giving her stitching that chunky, standout appearance.

Bev swears by the durability of this technique. Plus, if the need ever arises for a little quilt TLC, this method should make repairs a breeze!

Have you given long stitching your binding a try? Check out a video post on our instagram
