Tip Tuesday:

Declutter Your Sewing Room Before the New Year

Let’s be real—your sewing space deserves to start 2025 on a clean slate (don’t we all?). Here are 6 things to say goodbye to before the ball drops:

Tip Tuesday - December 24, 2024 - 6 Things to declutter from your sewing room before 2025 (Old Marking Tools)

1. Dried-up marking pens and old chalk (they’re not doing you any favors).

Tip Tuesday - December 24, 2024 - 6 Things to declutter from your sewing room before 2025 (Old Blades)

2. Blunt scissors and rusty rotary blades (sharpen or replace and thank us later).

Tip Tuesday - December 24, 2024 - 6 Things to declutter from your sewing room before 2025 (Warped + Bent Rulers)

3. Warped or cracked rulers (accuracy is key, people!).

Tip Tuesday - December 24, 2024 - 6 Things to declutter from your sewing room before 2025 (Unwanted Fabric Scraps)

4. Unloved fabric scraps (donate or recycle—someone else might adore them).

Tip Tuesday - December 24, 2024 - 6 Things to declutter from your sewing room before 2025 (Dated Threads)5. Brittle, outdated thread (it’s not worth the heartbreak mid-seam).

Tip Tuesday - December 24, 2024 - 6 Things to declutter from your sewing room before 2025 (Broken + Unused Tools)

6. Duplicate or broken tools (how many seam rippers is too many?).

Bonus Pro Tip
: Add a few simple tools to keep your space neat and functional:

Mini Stash n’ Store for your everyday essentials.

Project bags like Tula Pink’s clear bags, della Q Traincase, or Yazzii bags for all your bits and bobs.

Featherweight Shop cord wraps to wrangle those cords and save your sanity.

Decluttered space, decluttered mind—who’s with us? What are YOU ditching before the end of the year? Let us know via our instagram!

Alison's Holiday Pick

Holiday Staff Pick - December 24, 2024 - Alison's Swedish Dainties

Staff Pick Monday: Alison’s Holiday Pick

This week, Alison is sharing a family classic—her mom’s recipe for Swedish Dainties (or, as Alison calls them, Thimble Cookies). These delicate, nutty cookies are as festive as it gets, and Alison has a special technique: she uses a thimble to get the perfect little well in the center, ready for a dollop of jam or jelly.

If you know Alison, you know she’s wonderfully organized—so, of course, her mom’s handwritten recipe has been neatly typed up, adding a touch of Alison's style to this treasured tradition.

Ready to bake these beauties? Here’s Alison’s Swedish Dainties recipe:

Ingredients

1 egg

1 cup flour

1/4 cup brown sugar

1/2 tsp baking powder

1/2 cup butter

1/2 tsp vanilla

Instructions

  1. Cream butter until fluffy. Add vanilla and egg yolk, then sugar. Beat until light and creamy.
  1. Sift in flour and baking powder. Mix until well blended.
  1. Roll into small balls, about 3/4" in diameter. Beat egg white until foamy and dip each ball into the egg white. Roll in chopped nuts or coconut.
  1. Place on a greased cookie sheet and use a thimble to make a small depression in the center of each cookie.
  1. Bake at 300–325°F for 10 minutes, then deepen the depression and bake until golden brown, approximately 10 minutes more.
  1. Before serving, fill the center with jam or jelly.

Alison used some of her homemade raspberry jam for hers- and boy-o-boy... What a special touch!

Have you ever made cookies like these before? What’s your go-to filling—jam, jelly, or something unexpected? Let us know on Instagram!
